Yetis Foot Drum

This one-of-a-kind drum was created on a recent trip to India. While we were living in the Himalayan mountains, I wanted to do something, so I worked with several local craftsmen to make a crude but effective carving tool. The wood was brought to me by a mountain man who thought it would interest me because this gigantic hunk of wood had a hollow cavity already inside of it. The two of us whittled it down using an antique two-person saw. I then spent 5 weeks carving the outside to match the inside. The foot shape reflects the insides natural cavity. The drum has taken an animal appearance, as people see different animals in the face of this drum. The drum has a very low rich tone.
